How to Join Us
We follow in the footsteps of St. Francis and
St. Clare of Assisi.
Our life is characterized by prayer, community life, work, owning everything in common and living in an enclosure in order to lead a more intense life of prayer in solitude and silence to make firmer and easier the encounter with God.
Those Desiring to Join Our Way of Life
Initial Requirements
- Should be 18 years or above.
- Should be Catholic with a desire to live a
contemplative life. - Should have finished an ‘A’ level or ‘O’ level education with some training or /and experience of work.
Different Stages of Formation
Aspirancy
First contacts are made either through mail, phone or visits. A candidate is offered an experience of life in the enclosure which helps her to make a decision. This first stage takes one year.
Postulancy
This is the second stage of formation whereby one is introduced to our Poor Clare way of life and deepens her initial decision. It lasts one to two years.
Noviciate
This is the third stage. It lasts two years.
During this time, the novice listens attentively to the voice of the Lord as she enters more deeply into the spirituality of St. Clare who tells her ‘O most noble queen, gaze upon the Lord, consider Him, Contemplate Him as you desire to imitate Him’ (2nd letter to St. Agnes of Prague). At the end of this time, the novice is admitted to make temporary profession.
Temporary Profession
The sister is consecrated through vows of obedience,
Poverty and chastity lived in an enclosure. These vows. are taken for three years after which they are renewed annually until Solemn Profession. She is now rooted in the community which has become her family.
Solemn Profession
The formation began in the Noviciate is brought
to completion during the years of temporary profession. At the end of this formation, the sister makes her final commitment to God for the service of the Church through a life of prayer.
